Comic Description
Spider-Man vs. Firelord final showdown. After a city-wide chase, Spider-Man unleashes a desperate, non-stop physical assault on the former Herald of Galactus. The Avengers (Captain America, Hercules, Black Knight, Starfox, Wasp) arrive to witness Spider-Man's unlikely victory. This is a highly regarded 'power level' feat for Peter Parker.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5)
Condition Details
Moderate spine stress with color-breaking ticks visible. Slight blunting on the top and bottom right corners. Minor edge wear along the right side of the cover. Top left corner near 'Marvel' logo shows minor creasing. Overall good gloss but shows signs of handling.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $15 - $25; Graded (CGC 7.5): $50 - $65; Graded (CGC 9.8): $250+
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar mid-to-high grade recently sold for $18-$22 on eBay. 9.8 graded copies have seen values exceeding $300 in peak markets.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading in current condition. The value increase for a 7.5 grade would not offset the costs of grading (approx $35-$50). If pressing could resolve creases to reach an 8.5+, it may be worth it for sentimental value, but financial ROI is low unless it achieves a 9.6 or higher.
Notable Features
Significant 'Herald-tier' battle victory for Spider-Man. Features Black Suit (Symbiotic/Cloth). Direct Edition with Spider-Man face logo in UPC box. Iconic cover by Frenz.
Authentication Notes
Authentic 1980s Marvel newsprint stock. Correct 75 cent price variants for the era are not present (this is the 65 cent version). Color registration and staple placement appear consistent with Marvel's 1985 manufacturing standards.
