Visible spine stress marks/ticks, some of which appear to break color. Minor corner blunting on the top right and bottom right. Slight surface wear/scuffing visible on the dark areas of the cover. Edges show very minor chipping/wear.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $3.00 - $8.00; Graded (CGC 9.8): $60.00 - $100.00
Recent Sales
Raw copies typically sell in the $5 range on secondary markets. High-grade slabbed copies (9.8) have sold between $70 and $95 recently due to niche collector interest in Gene Colan art.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading unless for personal collection sentimental value. The cost of grading (shipment and fees) exceeds the raw market value. The current estimated grade of 8.0 would not yield a significant return on investment.
Notable Features
First appearance and origin of Jemm, Son of Saturn. Notable for the artwork by industry legends Gene Colan and Klaus Janson. Features the 'The New DC: There's No Stopping Us Now' logo in the bottom left corner UPC box.
Authentication Notes
The comic appears to be an authentic 1980s DC Direct Edition. Printing density on the red 'DC' bullet and the alignment of the staples suggest original manufacturing. Typical Baxter-style or standard newsprint paper stock for the era.
